Rochelle Carter SPHR, President/CEO

An avid reader from the fifth grade, Ms. Carter has always had a passion for books and secretly dreamed of a job where all she had to do was read books all day. In 2009, after seeing a continuous lack of quality Christian fiction material and faced with a growing desire for change, she decided to follow her childhood dreams and start this company.

Her 5+ years of experience in Human Resources and Project Management have prepared her to take the helm of this innovative publishing company and lead it to greatness. With the help of committed co-owners, staff and talented authors, EPH provides much needed support for Christian writers and material for readers of Christian publications. 

Andrea Hall, Senior Vice President

Andrea Hall graduated summa cum laude with her Bachelor's degree from Oakwood University and has spent over five years in the teaching profession.  She has years of experience developing/refining teaching programs and has also played a pivotal role developing and participating in programs for young Christian women.

Mrs. Hall developed and maintains our Intensive Online Writing Courses and is our Women's Issues editor.

 

Sylvia Callender, General Manager

Ms. Callender earned her MPH at Loma Linda University with emphasis in Health Education and Health Promotion which included coursework on Nutrition, Weight Managment, Smoking and Tobacco Use. She is a candidate for the DrPH (Preventive Care), her dissertation is on the factors determining the risk of obesity.

An experienced and creative problem solver, Ms. Callender has implemented work site wellness solutions to a number of health challenges. This includes program planning, implementing and evaluation of public health programs, coordinating the Adventist Health Study on behalf of LLU at Lithonia SDA, initiating/implementing the Annual Safety and Health Fair for DeKalb County Employees.

As our subject matter expert for the Health and Wellness Publications division, she works as an acquisitions editor and a fact-checker for all health and wellness manuscripts and proposals. Ms. Callender also co-manages our internship program with Andrea Hall and assists with various other management aspects.

Additional Team Members

Olson Perry Sr, VP of Publishing Accounts & Acquisitions

Olson Perry brings his skills in editing, management, photography, and publishing to Ellechor Publishing House. He has experience in writing, broadcasting, public relations, and teaching. He is a graduate of Andrews University and City College of the University System of New York.  

His most recent position was on the faculty at Southern Adventist University in the School of Journalism and Communication where he taught Introduction to Public Speaking, Photography, and Writing for the Media. 

Perry worked as director of communication for the Southern region of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and editor of the Southern Tidings for 19 years, and as general manager of FM90.5 for 10 years.  He is a motivational speaker emphasizing interpersonal communication and relationship seminars.

 

Alvetta Rolle, VP of Production & Marketing

Alvetta Y. Rolle is a poet, author, and above all else a child of God. Born in Dunn, North Carolina,  she graduated cum laude from Kaplan University with a Bachelor's of Science in Organizational Communications in 2010.

As the VP of Production & Marketing, Alvetta is the point person on Ellechor's book production and marketing efforts, organizing our teams, communicating to Ellechor Authors and delegating work. As an Executive staff member, she works very closely with our President and also assists with our Internship program.

She has been happily married for seven and half years to her husband, Elrod and has four beautiful children ranging in ages from twelve to two.  Alvetta currently resides in North Carolina. In her spare time she likes to volunteer with local organizations and persons in needs, as well as working on sequels to her debut novel, The Mercy Seat.

Caroll Atkins, Art Director

As a high end graphic designer and owner of C.A. Sly Designs, Caroll has created many memorable looks and campaigns for several fortune 500 companies including but not limited to AT&T, Lucent and BellSouth. Her background includes several years of experience working in the advertising field at BBDO WorldWide located in New York. For the past 10 years, she has produced various memorable collateral for her clients.

Everything from logos to brochures to helping with webdesign, Caroll does it all for us and does a great job. Her goal is to continue to offer her clients a high level of creativity, exceptional value and unequivocal professionalism.

Janet Dimond, Senior Contract Editor

 Janet Dimond is a freelance editor, proofreader, corporate and technical  writer with over 25 years’ experience in writing and editing for various  audiences. Several of her authors have won Word Guild awards.

Some of Janet’s clients include Faith Today Magazine, Tyndale University
College & Seminary, and Augsburg Fortress/Castle Quay Books. She believes the author’s voice should prevail, not hers, and can help take you from rough copy to published material. Easy to work with, Janet offers positive, concrete solutions at reasonable rates.

Cassondra Plucknett, Publishing Manager

Cassondra Plucknett is a graduate of Concordia University Portland. She was the editor of her university literary journal The Promethean and student body president in her senior year. A native of the Portland-Metro area she is excited to be able to work with a Christian based publisher near home.

As a newlywed she and her husband, Terry, enjoy staying involved at their church and love singing in the choir. Cassondra also teaches several children’s musical groups at a local school.

As Publishing Manager Cassondra performs varied tasks which include managing the editorial & acquisitions processes, and coordinating editorial interns.

Nokware Knight, Chief Financial Officer

Nokware is responsible for all financial and fiscal management aspects of company operations. His role is to provide leadership and coordination in the administrative, business planning, accounting and budgeting efforts of the company.

Nokware built his career working in strategy, operations and business development for Fortune 500 and not-for-profit enterprises. A steward of the written word since elementary school, his writing has been published in National Geographic, Black MBA Magazine, and Hemispheres, among other publications. He is currently pursuing a Masters of Finance degree at Northeastern University.

Interns

Ariel Price, Editorial Intern

 Ariel is from Southern California, where she attended Azusa Pacific University and graduate with a Bachelor's in English Literature.  She was recently married and moved with her husband to Portland, Oregon where she is starting the Master's in Book Publishing program at Portland State University. Ariel's favorite authors include the Brontes, C.S. Lewis, Virginia Woolf, and Francine Rivers.  Ariel loves traveling, playing piano, singing, writing, and of course reading.  She is excited to begin her career in publishing and see where God takes her. 

Caitlin Bailey, Editorial Intern

 Caitlin Bailey graduated from Aquinas College, a small Catholic institution in Grand Rapids, Michigan in May 2011 where she received her Bachelor's of Art in English and a minor in History and Journalism.  She has lived in Michigan her whole life, but would someday like to move east.  An avid reader of books from an early age, she quickly developed a passion for writing.  Her work has been published on the Aquinas website as well as The Saint (the student newspaper for Aquinas).  Caitlin looks forward to her internship at Ellechor Publishing House where she hopes she can pursue her interest in the publishing world. 

Martha Tarnawski, Marketing Intern

 Martha recently graduate from Western Washington University in August 2011 with her Bachelor of Art's degree in Communication and Spanish.  She is from Calgary, but currently lives in the gorgeous Pacific Northwest area of Vancouver, Washington.  She spends most of her time outdoors working on her photography and enjoying the nature around her.  When she's not outdoors, Martha likes finding new music and reading.   Books have been sometihng that Martha's grown up with and she continues to fill her bookshelf with new finds.  She is looking for a career in advertising. Working as a marketing intern for Ellechor will be a great learning experience for her, and allow her to expand her knowledge of the publishing business.
